New Prints + Upcoming Holiday Studio Sale

{{ NEW PRINTS & Limited Edition Print Sale }}

It's been a while since my last post - since then, we home-birthed a baby girl a month ago,
and just like they always say, our lives have been turned upside down (in a good way!)

Now, one month later, I've finally added some new prints for the first time in a while.
There are 3 new prints, based on popular requests : Azurely (2011), Sadra (2013), & Hemera (2013).

Also there are a couple Hand-embellished Limited Edition prints (only a couple left) that I have put on sale at $20+ off!

Please note that there are a couple prints that have been sold out/phased out and will no longer be available.

{{ Small Originals Studio Sale }}

My 4th annual Small Originals Sale is coming soon!
I'm thinking of the first or second weekend (Saturday) of December - unfortunately, due to pregnancy and baby, I don't have a lot this year.
It will most likely be be around 8-12 pieces, mostly graphite drawings.

Please check back for detailed info in a week or two!

In My Autumn. 8.75" x 11.75". Graphite & watercolor on Paper. © 2013.

sorry for the late notice - i have this drawing above at A Magical Land group show
that opened yesterday at Leanna Lin's Wonderland in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles - curated
by the super talented Michelle Romo of Crowded Teeth (who makes the cutest things)!

Leanna Lin's Wonderland
5024 Eagle Rock Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90041
+ please contact the gallery for inquiries on the piece above!

as for the upcoming shows, i am soon due with a baby (in the next 3-4 weeks!)
so i won't be adding many shows in the future.

i do plan on doing another holiday sale around thanksgiving/xmas time (somewhere in between),
with some sketches and drawings to clear out of the studio space.

i'll be in Supersonic Electronic's annual invitational group show in January at Spoke Art (SF) - and i'm working on a small painting for it that i'm trying to finish up before the baby comes :

Small piece on wood in progress... #wip
Things in progress... (All at once, yes)
Slow slow progress...

other than that, and a couple more prints on the way, i might not have much coming for a while!
please check my shop for other availabilities in the mean time, if you are interested in anything. :)

thank you!

Studio Sale 2013

newly spiffed up design too! :D
as i mentioned in my last post, i will be offering these small pieces for sale in my shop this week!

i actually labored for many hours with coding this new design over the weekend,
(though it doesn't look like much), but i like it much better - cleaner and simpler looking!

several people have bought from the batch via email, and unfortunately, most of the drawings
people asked a lot about (like the one on the top left up there) are sold.

also gone are the early-bird special free shipping, i apologize.
thanks to those that emailed me for first dibs and gave my works nice homes!
mind you, since they're all nicely framed, international shipping is quite high.
(please contact me separately via the shop if you'd like to know more details).

these little ones  (and some not so little ones) will go on sale, starting at :

2pm EST, THURSDAY, AUGUST 8th, 2013
http://shop.stellaimhultberg.com

please check back early if you'd like early dibs!
otherwise, i'm pretty sure there will be something left for everyone.

+ also, i'm planning on another studio sale of smaller, less-finished pieces (unframed)
in a month or so.
mostly because i am not sure if i can do a holiday time sale this year due to the baby.
i'll let you know ahead of time when i do!

thank you for reading.

Daydreamers : 2-person Show, Compound Gallery. May 2013.

Daydreamers. 2-person show. Flyer image.
another massively backlogged entry here - my one big show for the year was back in May, Daydreamers, at Compound Gallery in Portland, OR - a 2-person show alongside the sweetest new artist,  Suite Charlie.

i created a lot of smaller, fun artworks that are different than my usual larger-ish paintings for many reasons, for this show, but mostly because i knew/remembered that the gallery is on the smaller side.
but i feel that i ended up creating way more than i thought i needed to (slight drama leading up to the show : the initial artist dropped out a month before the show so i thought i had to fill out the gallery).

Daydreamer show. Installation view.
installation view : my Nantarka series wall to the left, and Suite Charlie's wall to the right.

below are my pieces for the show - and most of these pieces will be available soon via my shop!
(although you may email me before i post them, if you see something you like).

{ amazing pieces by Suite Charlie above }

this show was one of the roughest shows to pull off, mentally, perhaps.
although everything is small in this show it wasn't the easiest show to work on as far as non-art matters went. the initial artist the curator at the gallery had set for the show dropped out at the last minute, then i was asked to find another artist for them or do a solo there, to my horror... which is why i ended up overdoing the number of pieces, thinking i had to fill out the walls (never a good reason).
but in the end, i did do a lot of fun works that were small and more experimental (like the last few watercolors up there), and i had a lot of fun being in portland and meeting lots of cool people - especially suite charlie, who i knew from instagram, turning out to be such a genuinely sweet, talented young artist, making it all better and worthwhile! still i have mixed feelings about this show after all these months have passed - ah well!

i'm probably going to be creating maybe one more new work from here on out this year... although there are still some more shows left in the year for me - mostly because of this little big news... :)

first, apologies (if anyone is out there reading) for this much much belated post/update for this year's shows - i'm months late on this.

these above pieces were my contribution to my friend Monica Choy's show she curated at Hellion Gallery in Portland, OR - In the Process,  a group show of artists' sketchbook pages!
i had a lot on my plate at the time, but i couldn't pass up a sketchbook show - my favorite kind of art!
she even sent out this amazing hand-made accordion sketchbooks for artists to fill them with, but alas, my first attempt at this (6-page spread finished sketchbook) was lost in the mail. :(

it looked something like this : Finally used some of my carved stamps on @choybot 's handmade sketchbook - thanks Monica!
cover - with my stamp prints. Accordion sketchbook (handmade by @choybot!) for a sketchbook show next month - my most favorite thing to work on to date!!
one view of the accordion.

anyway, i mourned the loss a bit but quickly re-made the above version with my own paper (which wasn't as good as the original nor was it bound into a nice sketchbook) at the last minute, after wrapping up this show in the same town (across the street, actually). but oh man, did i thoroughly enjoy this show - and the opening too!!!

hopefully the lost one, somewhere out there in this universe, landed in some nice appreciating person's hand, or will come back to me one day. or it's probably been decomposed into worm meal already. -_-
either way, it's the journey that counts, right?

some coverage of the show here :

you can view more opening night photos on the actual Hi Fructose website page - HERE!

+ edit : some images from the show my husband took below :

the wall with my works & amazing accordion fold out by Souther Salazar (how i intended mine to be displayed too before it got lost in the mail  T__T) below my framed pieces.

we were having too much fun at this show to have taken any more photos! yikes.
there are more photos in the hifructose link above, though.
